Platform playbook

Produce the full Meta static set from one approved creative.

Facebook and Instagram placements each frame the artwork differently. A campaign ships cleanly when every ratio is adapted deliberately instead of cropped from a single square export.

Placement set

The four static ratios most campaigns actually need.

Exact pixel dimensions change over time; the ratios are stable. Produce the ratio correctly and the export size follows.

1:1 square

The universal fallback for feed and several secondary placements. Balanced composition, moderate headline length.

4:5 vertical feed

Takes more mobile screen height than a square. Headline hierarchy usually needs to be re-balanced, not just rescaled.

9:16 story & reels

Full-screen vertical. Requires real background space above and below the subject, and strict safe-area discipline.

1.91:1 wide

Short headline, compact lockup. Long copy from the square master rarely survives this ratio unchanged.

Safe areas

Where Meta's interface covers your artwork.

Vertical placements overlay profile details at the top and caption plus action buttons at the bottom. Anything essential in those bands is effectively invisible.

  • Keep headlines inside the middle band on 9:16
  • Keep the logo clear of the top profile overlay
  • Keep the call to action above the bottom UI
  • Avoid text within the outer edge margin
  • Check contrast against the extended background
  • Verify the subject is never cropped at the face
Review each output at its real ratio before export.
Production checklist

Before the set goes to media.

  • All four ratios exported from the same approved master
  • Brand colors, fonts and logo identical across sizes
  • Headline shortened where the ratio demands it
  • Background extended, not stretched, for tall formats
  • Localized versions produced in the same pass
  • Consistent, readable export file naming
Every output stays editable until you download it.
Questions

Frequently asked questions

Which static creative sizes does a Meta campaign need?
Most static campaigns cover a square 1:1 asset, a vertical 4:5 feed asset, a full-height 9:16 asset for Stories and Reels placements, and a wide 1.91:1 asset for right-column and some audience-network placements.
Why not upload one square image everywhere?
Meta will crop or letterbox it. Vertical placements lose the composition and the call to action drifts out of the visible area, which usually shows up as weaker performance rather than an obvious error.
What are safe areas on Stories and Reels?
The top and bottom of a 9:16 placement are covered by profile, caption and action UI. Keep headlines, logos and calls to action inside the middle band so nothing important is obscured.
How much text can a Meta ad image contain?
There is no hard rejection threshold today, but heavy text still reads poorly on mobile. Keep one clear headline, a short supporting line and one call to action per format.
Can Tadvio produce the full Meta set from one creative?
Yes. Start from the approved master, select the required Meta formats, review each output against its safe areas, and export the set once every size looks intentional.
